Early Church at Taos
Early Church at Taos, New Mexico (Photograph #9165)

The church of San Jerónimo was built in 1619, destroyed in the Spanish Revolt of 1680, and soon rebuilt. When the United States claimed New Mexico for its own in 1846, the resident Spanish joined the Taos people in an uprising. Soldiers of the American army destroyed the church—killing all the women and children inside—as vengeance for the Taos’ role in the uprising. Although erosion has taken its toll, the ruins of a single tower of the early church remain.

The photograph is printed on archival Museo Silver Rag photo paper using Epson Ultrachrome pigment based inks and complemented with a soft-white mat. An optional black aluminum frame by Nielsen completes a piece of art that's ready to hang.

This photograph is available in two sizes: 8"x10" matted to 11"x14" and 11"x14" matted to 16"x20".
